Welcome to the BrickSquad Monopoly (BSM) Grassroots Basketball Program, where we empower young men through the sport of basketball. Our focus at BSM is not just on athletic excellence, but on the overall development and well-being of each student-athlete in our program. We've invested considerable time and resources to create an exemplary environment that nurtures both the athletic and personal growth of our players. Our commitment goes beyond the court, as we aim to cultivate not just skilled players, but responsible, confident and successful individuals.
We are excited to be a part of the newly launched Puma Circuit, featuring the PRO16 and NXT Leagues. This collaboration offers our high school athletes unmatched exposure and opportunities, the possibilites are endless!


WAKA FLOCKA FLAME

Waka Flocka Flame, born Juaquin James Malphurs on May 31, 1986, is a prominent figure in the rap music scene, known for his energetic and hard-hitting style. Hailing from South Jamaica, Queens, New York, he moved to Riverdale, Georgia, where he made a significant impact in the Southern hip-hop community. The name "Waka" was given to him by his cousin, after the Muppets character Fozzie Bear's catchphrase, "Wocka Wocka". The name "Flocka Flame" was given to him by rap artist, Gucci Mane, whom he has known since he was 19.

Waka Flocka gained major attention with his breakthrough single "O Let's Do It" in 2009, and for his diamond-certified song "No Hands," a track that not only dominated the charts but also became a club anthem, cementing his status in the music industry.

Beyond his music, Waka Flocka is recognized for his contributions outside the studio. Waka received an honorary professor degree in Humanitarianism and Philanthropy from the Bible Institute of America, making him Dr. Juaquin James Malphurs. He is an avid basketball enthusiast and has shown his dedication to the sport by sponsoring BrickSquad Monopoly Grassroots AAU Basketball team, nurturing young talent and giving back to the community.
COACH JAMES "SHANGE" BLACK
Co-founder
James “Shange” Black was born on 9/4/1979 in Queens, New York. He was raised by his Grand Parents, Edna & John Black along with his siblings. Shange attended Franklin K. Lane High School where he always knew he wanted to be a ball player and a coach.
1996-1999 - In high school James Black was player of the year in Public School Athletic League for Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn, New York, where he was All Honorable Mention, Second Team All American, and City Championship dependable. He won various inner state tournaments to name a few; Nike Swoosh, UDC, City Wide and Conrad McRae. During this time he caught the attention of a local AAU coach who gave him the job of head coach of the New York City Panthers. He started competing locally and winning.
1999-2001 - James attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie New York. He never got his chance to play ball due to a tragic car accident his freshman year that left him with a partially paralyzed left hand, screws in his knee and a plate in his head. James left Marist College and started working at a local middle school coaching basketball.
